Just finished my latest piece. Its called Kirsten Uncovered. Its part of a challenge...I recieved a packet of fabric (orange, biege and green calico type fabric) in whiche we were supposed to use. They are there! The piece is 20"x20"

Here are the 3 tops that I have completed since September. The red/green is called "Holly Jolly".
its about 36x36. The beige grey is about 40x36, not sure what to name it. The bottom one is called "Leap of Faith" its about 48x60 - trying to get a big one! Now comes the hard work, determining what my quilting lines will be and quilting.

October Glory, this is quilt I completed with my first set of hand dyes. I was inspired by wonderful fall sunsets and aspen leaves blowing in the wind.

Sleeping Siren

This is my newest quilt "Sleeping Siren" I have been working on her for about 6 months. The body and hair are done in thread. Her scales were individually made from silk duponi and embellished with cyrstals. the background are two hand dyes done by Anna Turner. She is about 40"x60"

I am not obscessed but this is done with strips of cotton, stiched down with the raw edges unfinshed.

This is Aeirya she is done on a hand dye, with yarn, beads, shivas, and machine work. The finished size is about 15"x 15".
She plus some awesome other quilts from local artists will be on exhibit at the Kress Gallery Sept. 1-30 at Riverpark Square in good ole Spokane.

Completed August 2006. I used hand dyes and commercial fabrics and it is beaded to reflect light as if it was raining.

Purple Yellow

these are two inspirations for quilts I want to do. the Purple piece is a hand dye made by a friend and the face image is one of my daghter that I will put into fabric - ugh ordered a bunc of kona cottons from www.equilter.com
I think the Purple Yellow handye reminds me of a Mid Summers Night Dream, I am thinking about putting faries or mysterious images on it. Thoughts?

Australia Quilt

This quilt was completed in the fall of 2003, in memory of our trip to the Great Barrier Reef. Nothing can compare to that exeriance of snorkling in those amazing waters

Redoing my sewing area - getting ready for a yard sale

Okay, for the past 2 weeks i have been collecting all the excess kid stuff bagging and pricing for a yard sale. The benefit is that now I will have more room in my sewing area. I am hoping to clear floorspace for a Long Arm. (I think) The hardest thing is not parting with the kids old toys and memories but parting with the fabric. Especially now that I know that "only cotton" in a quilt is no so. I have 2 quilts in the making, another in my brain and 2 to bead.

This quilt I finished last spring. I used images of my two daughters. The background was using a Rikki Timms technique.

NYC Feb 2005

Last February I was able to visit NYC, with our Italian exchange student. She was there to visit with her mother who flew over for the weekend. Luckily that was the weekend of the Gates exhibit in Central Park. This was my inspiration. I am currently re-beading this quilt and will have a newer version.

South of Montery April 8th

We spent a week in California, visiting my son and daughter. Despite all the rain that California has had, we spent a wonderful day on the coast. We went to the Montery Aquarium, visited Ft. Ord where my brother was born (same my parents did not invest in local real estate there in the 50's) and drove down the coast, we hiked to a beach and had a wonderful time.

Well I am taking the plunge- this is my first post.
This is my last quilt. "Petunia I'm Pink"

This quilt is dedicated to my grandmother Marion Elizabeth Powers,

December 21, 1903– August 7, 1993.

She told me that every house needs an elephant as it will bring it luck. Over the years she had given me several ceramic lucky elephants that she had made. I recently learned that my cousin, who shared the same initials as her, had no mementos of hers. He grew up with her and felt particularly close to her. So this last Christmas I sent him one of the lucky elephants my grandmother had made. After sharing this story with others I decided to create this quilt. I had already named her Petunia “I’m Pink” for several weeks, but coincidently during a phone call with my cousins daughter, she informed me that her mother calls her Petunia! Petunia is meant to be!
